The Major Mill 2400 is designed to grind a range of grains for NIR analysis

Power Connection.

Grinder is wired to run on 220-250 volts.

The electrical supply must be provided with in efficient ground connection.

The rotation direction of the motor must be clockwise.

Starting and Stopping

Start/Stop Switch is located on the bottom right-hａnd side.

Auto cut-off is installed. If blades become jammed motor will switch off.

For a satisfactory grinding quality and minimum moisture loss, we recommend the mill be operated intermittently no longer than 1 to 2 minutes continuous operation.

Grinding Adjustments

The fineness to which the sample is to be ground can be selected by rotating the top toothed disc with the aid of the adjustment pin

For coarser grinding turn the disc clockwise( to the left)

For finer grinding turn the disc anticlockwise (to the right)

A locking screw is located in the top of the disc to prevent complete rotation of the disc

NOTE the mill is preset for grinding Wheat and Barley (or similar products). This setting is lignified by an arrow on the top of the disc. This setting is equivalent to turning the disc clockwise approximately y of one division(marked on the disc) from the grinding wheels touching.

High fat and fibrous products can be first ground on a coarser setting and then a finer setting for final NIR analysis.

Cleaning Instructions

When sample has finished grinding, remove hopper and clean grinding chamber with a small brush. Replace hopper and turn on to finish the grind.

Use lever at front of exit spout to help release any ground material stuck in spout. The brush supplied can also be used to clean the exit spout.

To dismantle grinding head, ensure power is OFF and cord removed from power point. Remove locking screw from top disc and then rotate disc clockwise until it is free and the tooth disc can be removed.

4. The tooth disc can be cleaned using a stiff brush and compressed air.

WARNING

Operation must be intermittent with maximum continuous motor operation not to exceed 15 minutes.

Never remove toothed disc while mill is operating.

Disconnect electrical power supply before servicing.
